Just as all of mainstream’s fake news reported the L.A. anti-ICE riots to be “mostly peaceful protests” where people were just having a little fun “burning cars,” Donald J. Trump and our allies in the Middle East, Israel, were also peacefully protesting Iran’s nuclear capabilities by having a little peaceful, harmless fun “bunker busting” a few nuclear facilities, without targeting any military members or civilians. No harm, no foul, right?
During the NATO Summit in the Netherlands this week, former President Donald Trump criticized President Joe Biden’s administration, alleging it allowed Iranian “supercells” to infiltrate the U.S. as potential sleeper agents.
His comments came as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the arrest of 11 Iranian nationals over the weekend, some labeled as “known or suspected terrorists.” Meanwhile, tensions escalate over Trump’s recent ceasefire negotiations with Iran, sparking debate over U.S. foreign policy and domestic security.
Speaking at the summit, Trump claimed Biden’s presidency enabled Iranian operatives to enter the country undetected. “Biden let a lot of supercells in,” Trump said. “He was an incompetent president… Other people signed documents for him with the autopen.”
Trump’s recent diplomatic maneuver—brokering a pause in hostilities between Israel and Iran—has drawn criticism from some pro-Israel factions. Social media posts from some Jewish users suggested that an attack on U.S. soil could push American policymakers toward war. Analysts warn of potential “false flag” operations—coordinated attacks blamed on adversaries—to undermine Trump’s peace efforts after he rebuked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for violating the ceasefire.
The specter of foreign infiltration and domestic terrorism recalls post-9/11 anxieties, when sleeper cells were a central concern. However, experts caution against conflating immigration with terrorism without evidence. The arrests also come amid heightened political polarization, with Trump framing Biden’s policies as weak on security—a recurrent theme in electoral rhetoric.
As security agencies assess any credible threats, Trump’s allegations and the DHS arrests fuel debates over immigration, counterterrorism, and U.S. involvement in Middle East conflicts. With geopolitical tensions simmering and an election looming, the administration faces pressure to balance national security with diplomatic restraint. Meanwhile, public skepticism persists over whether fear-mongering or legitimate risks drive the narrative.
