In America’s heartland, Trump’s support remains as strong as ever ahead of 2018, 2020

The disgustingly dishonest American Pravda media has done all it can to separate President Donald J. Trump from his base of supporters, especially in so-called “blue wall” states in the nation’s “rust belt” Midwest he snatched from Hillary Clinton.

As recent reports have noted, establishment media coverage of Trump has been overwhelmingly negative — north of 90 percent — and it’s been that way since before he took office.

But the constant drumbeat of hit pieces, fake news, baseless allegations, and outright Trump hate have not worked as planned. In fact, as noted by Bloomberg Politics, eight voters from Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Michigan — after 17 months — still give the president extremely high marks.

What real voters had to say

“While there has been slippage” of support for the president “in some cases,” Bloomberg Politics reports, “what comes through clearly is that the emotional bond between the firebrand politician and his base remains very strong.”

— William Chaney of La Crosse, Pa: This 41-year-old Trump voter gave the president an “11 out of 10” rating, exceeding the scale. This married, father-of-one diehard Republican and an account executive said he believes Trump is a “great president.”

“I think he does a lot of good things for the domestic economy and I think if he’d be given a fair shake, he could do wonderful things. I really wish they would get rid of the special counsel stuff and just let him do his job. I think it’s hampering him — it’s a distraction,” Chaney noted.

“He needs the support of everyone around him to get his agenda through… I think we still have the same democracy we did a year ago, ten years ago. Nothing has changed. Same ethics, same rules, same American values. Any Democrat out there that thinks the sky is falling needs to get a grip. People just need to take a breath. Take a deep breath and enjoy the tax cut.”

— Byrn Biemeck of Milwaukee, Wis.: She identifies as a libertarian and would have voted for the Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson — had Trump not won the GOP nomination.

“I honestly don’t think America has been in this good of a place for a very long time. America is in an incredible place right now,” said the 31-year-old rideshare driver who now lives in Austin and gave Trump a “9 out of 10” rating.  “I don’t feel as if we’re losing democracy or that our morals are on the decline. I feel like we’re really having a restoration of a lot of morals and ideals … It does feel like the fighting spirit of humanity is there.” (Related: HuffPo columnist complains: One year in, ‘Trump is WINNING’.)

— Tom Anslow of Port Clinton, Ohio: Semi-retired at 63, he gave Trump a rating of “8.5 out of 10,” up a half-point since November 2017.

I think he’s doing well. I don’t think things are as good as they could for him, from all the opposition… The Democrats don’t like Trump simply because he has a ‘Republican’ behind his name, and a number of Republicans don’t like him because he is not a born and bred and bled politician.” He doesn’t see a “grand conspiracy” against Trump (there is) and he thinks the president may speak/tweet too soon sometimes, “but we all do.”

— Geno DiFabio of Youngstown, Ohio: A 55-year-old driver for an industrial repair shop, he gives Trump a “10 out of 10.”

“The attitude in the country, the attitude in business, the way the stock market’s going, the tax cuts … I don’t know how much more is in my paycheck, I don’t watch that that closely,” he said of the nation’s economic trajectory under Trump. “But honest to God, I can see it in the amount of business we’re doing and the amount of business our customers are doing. … If Hillary would have been elected, it would have been over.”

He added that Trump ran on his own agenda “and that’s what people voted for” over his party affiliation.
